In Uzbekistan, liability has been introduced for conformity assessment bodies in cases of violation of conformity assessment rules, according to a government decree.

According to the information, if the violation of conformity assessment rules has caused harm to the life or health of a citizen, the conformity assessment body will be jointly and severally liable with the seller and the manufacturer of the goods, work, or service for compensation for the harm caused.

In addition, the innovation provides for legal incentives for entrepreneurs who voluntarily withdraw low-quality goods. In particular, legal entities that withdraw at least 70% of products that do not meet the mandatory requirements of the standards will be exempt from financial sanctions. The law comes into force on January 19, 2026.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbeks would be rewarded for identifying substandard goods. Those affected by hazardous products will be compensated for their losses.
