Billions of soums will be allocated in Uzbekistan for the development of districts and cities

The selected plots will be given a special status, within which the authorities will modernize, improve, and create conditions for the development of industry and business.

In Uzbekistan, some districts and cities are planned to be transformed into exemplary territories, for which they will be modernized, improved, and conditions created for the development of industry and business, the government decree states.

According to the information, 33 districts, cities, and mahallas of the country will be granted the status of “New Uzbekistan-SPIRIT Rayon (City)” within the framework of which these territories will be transformed. In particular, it is planned to ensure industrial growth of 2-3% higher than the regional average by fully utilizing available raw materials, establishing the production of high-value-added products, deepening industrial cooperation, and expanding the capacity of industrial zones.

Also, the authorities plan to launch at least 10 large investment projects in the selected territories in the food industry, furniture production, construction materials, textile industry, and other specialized areas, attracting investments worth at least $50 million.

In addition, it is planned to involve at least 3-5 enterprises that have not previously entered foreign markets in export activities, as well as to organize the production of domestic products at least at one enterprise with the involvement of foreign specialists. In addition, from January 1, 2026, all buildings of state bodies and social institutions on these plots will be built and modernized exclusively on the principle of energy efficiency.

Starting March 1, 2026, authorities also want to launch pilot projects to modernize buildings in one of the social sector facilities in accordance with the “zero energy consumption buildings” concept. Also, by January 1, 2027, state institutions, enterprises with state participation, and social sector organizations are planned to be fully equipped with energy-efficient equipment.

It is noted that 100 billion soums will be allocated from the republican budget for the implementation of these plans for each selected district and city, and 5 billion soums for the development of each mahalla. In addition, within the framework of the Islamic Development Bank’s “Sustainable Development of Rural Territories” and the World Bank’s “Comprehensive Development of Medium-sized Cities” projects, $100 million is planned to be allocated for the development of territories.

Earlier, it was reported that the president reviewed the “Atlas of Solutions” for Tashkent and New Tashkent. It should help avoid mistakes when developing new projects for the improvement of open public spaces.
