On October 16, Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed a presentation on proposals for identifying new economic opportunities using space monitoring, the presidential press service reports.

During the event, responsible officials explained that the country is expanding the use of aerospace data in various sectors of the economy. In particular, it was noted that the Uzcosmos Agency under the Ministry of Digital Technologies plans to conduct state space monitoring in the fields of geology, land relations, and ecology at least three times a year. Experts also reminded that hundreds of mineral deposits and quarries are put up for auction annually in the country, creating conditions for entrepreneurs to implement modern industrial methods of subsoil development.

Thus, in 2024, 170 deposits were sold at auctions, and since the beginning of 2025, 172 have already been sold. At the same time, it was emphasized that there are still cases of illegal subsoil use. In particular, in the first months of 2025, more than 2,000 such cases were identified through space monitoring. In this regard, the Prosecutor General’s Office was tasked with effectively using satellite analysis data of land, production facilities, and deposits in the work to prevent and timely solve economic crimes.

The authorities emphasized that in recent years, cadastral registration has been completed for 1 million 365 thousand unauthorized residential buildings, but the problem has not yet been fully resolved. Thus, since the beginning of the year, law enforcement officers have identified more than 33 thousand such facilities, a significant part of which are located on agricultural lands. As a result, responsible persons were instructed to integrate existing information platforms as soon as possible and create a system that allows for prompt response to cases of illegal construction.

The authorities also drew attention to the identification of unused land: in six regions of the country, about 300 hectares of vacant land were found. In Tashkent alone, 95 hectares have already been put up for auction. The President instructed to complete the research in eight more regions by the end of the year and to cover all district centers of the country in 2026.

Within the framework of international experience and advanced technological solutions, responsible officials presented information on projects that involve the use of artificial intelligence to analyze space data to identify illegal tree felling, methane leaks, study the effectiveness of solar panels, and determine the condition of road surfaces, malfunctions, and overloads in railway and electrical networks.

In addition, during the presentation, responsible officials put forward proposals for creating an ecosystem of space education, developing research and technologies, and expanding communication coverage in remote areas of the country through the introduction of satellite telecommunications. The leader of our country gave instructions on thorough preparation for the International Astronaut Congress, which will be held in Samarkand in 2028.
