A modern multidisciplinary medical center for adults will appear in Tashkent, where up to 8,500 high-tech operations will be performed annually, the press service of the Ministry of Health reports.

According to the information, the relevant contract was signed by the department’s representatives together with the head of the Kyeryong consortium chosen by the general contractor. It is noted that the total cost of the project is $149.8 million, of which $124 million will be provided as a loan from the South Korean Economic Development and Cooperation Fund, and $25.8 million will be invested by Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the project, it is planned to build a modern multi-profile medical center with 300 beds of the IV category. At the same time, the new hospital building will be built in accordance with international standards. It is planned that more than 700 new jobs will be created in the medical institution.

The facility will be able to perform up to 8,500 high-tech operations annually, including cardiac surgery, transplantation, neurosurgery, rehabilitation, and treatment of spinal and joint diseases. Also, the authorities will send 130 medical workers from Uzbekistan to South Korea for advanced training, and, on the contrary, 32 highly qualified specialists from South Korea will arrive in the country.
