Construction of the “Sultonhovuz” reservoir with a capacity of 100 million cubic meters will begin in 2026 in the Syrdarya region to improve water supply to agricultural lands, the presidential press service reported.

According to the head of state, thanks to the project, 110 thousand hectares in Boyovut, Gulistan, Saykhunabad, Syrdarya, and Mirzaabad districts will be able to harvest 2 times a year. The President instructed to gradually clean 16 thousand kilometers of collector-drainage canals to maintain the land’s meliorative condition.

It is noted that about 200 thousand hectares of agricultural land in the region are heavily and moderately saline. A pilot project for the reclamation of saline lands will be piloted in Syrdarya, and based on its results, a three-year program for improving their melioration will be developed.

Responsible structures were instructed to turn the Syrdarya River into an exemplary region in the water accounting system.

Recall that in the Tashkent region, a reservoir worker was punished for dumping sewage water into Chorvoq. The dug ditches and laid pipes were dismantled.
