2026 will be a difficult year for the agricultural sector — Erkin Abdulahatov

The climatologist studied the weather forecast until the end of 2025 and spoke about the risks it poses to agriculture.

Climatologist Erkin Abdulahatov analyzed the weather forecast for the end of 2025 and spoke about the risks it poses to agriculture.

The expert noted that 2025 turned out to be quite dry, which, in turn, negatively affects agriculture. In particular, the specialist noted a difficult situation in the main pastures and lands of the country. Especially, according to Erkin Abdulahatov, water-scarce winter threatened swampy areas.

According to the specialist, 50 to 80% of the monthly precipitation fell on the main agricultural lands during the month. However, after the dry summer months, even the norm of precipitation would be insufficient. At the same time, according to long-term forecasts, the cooling of the water in the central part of the Pacific Ocean, or the so-called La Niña effect, will also affect the country’s weather, as a result of which Uzbekistan will experience a dry winter.

After that, in February and March, a sharp change in cool and warm days is expected, which will also have a strong impact on plant development. The expert concluded that 2026 will be a difficult year for the agricultural sector.

Earlier, it was reported that in Uzbekistan, farmers and dekhkans will not pay VAT when selling their own products. The President instructed to encourage more active food production.
