Uzbekistanis have started transferring foreign currency more frequently

In Uzbekistan, the volume of remittances has increased by 25% since the beginning of 2025, reaching $15.8 billion, according to a Central Bank report.
According to the information, such an indicator was recorded between January and October. It is noted that the significant increase in remittances, in turn, has influenced the increase in foreign currency supply in the domestic market. In particular, this indicator increased by $7.8 billion, which is 1.4 times more than in 2024.
In addition, regulatory experts noted that in 2025, Uzbekistanis sold 1.3 times more foreign currency or 17.4 billion soums to commercial banks. Individuals purchased $9.6 billion during this period, a 24% increase compared to the same period in 2024.
At the same time, the volume of foreign currency sent from the country has significantly decreased. In particular, during this period, it amounted to only $2.2 billion, which is $147 million less than in 2024.
Earlier, it was reported that remittances to Uzbekistan had exceeded $12 billion since the beginning of the year. The volume of cross-border transfers rose by 23%, with the majority of the receipts originating from Russia.
