Uzbekistan’s government debt has risen
The country received the highest funding from the World Bank.

As of 1 July 2025, Uzbekistan’s public debt was $43.3 billion, according to the Ministry of Economy.
Of the total government debt, $36.4 billion is external debt and $6.9 billion is internal debt. Compared to the same period in 2024, the state debt has increased by more than $6 billion. Among international financial organisations, the World Bank has attracted the largest amount of debt.
Remember that in 2024, Uzbekistan’s public debt reached nearly $40.2 billion, which is 35% of the country’s GDP. Of this amount, $33.7 billion was owed to foreign governments, while $6.5 billion was domestic government debt.
