Minors will be allowed to obtain bank cards.

Changes have been made to the rules for issuing and circulating bank cards in Uzbekistan, according to a decree issued by the Ministry of Justice.

According to the amendments, it will be possible to register a card independently from the age of 14. Children under 14 years old will be able to receive a card with the written consent of one of their parents or legal guardian. The document introduces two new types of cards:

• social cards — for the payment of benefits and material assistance to those in need;
• business cards — are issued to individual entrepreneurs and self-employed individuals for payment acceptance.

Recall that banks in Uzbekistan were penalized for shortcomings in disclosing information. Each institution received a fine of more than 100 million soums.
