Uzbekistan has stopped the import of 66 kilograms of drugs from Tajikistan
Law enforcement officers conducted raids in four regions of the country and detained five citizens.

In Uzbekistan, as part of the fight against drug smuggling and illicit trafficking, law enforcement officers stopped the import of 66 kg of narcotic substances from abroad, SSS press service reports.
Law enforcement officers conducted raids in the country, during which five citizens attempting to smuggle drugs from Tajikistan into the country were detained in four regions. In particular, at the “Rovot” border checkpoint in the Beshariq district of the Fergana region, law enforcement officers stopped a Cobalt vehicle traveling from Tajikistan, driven by a 35-year-old resident of the Beshariq district.
During the search, law enforcement officers discovered 53 packages containing potent substances in the car, which were hidden in a gas cylinder installed in the trunk. It was revealed that the offender attempted to smuggle 50 kg 852 g of opium and 6 kg 927 g of hashish into the country. Also, law enforcement officers found that the man was carrying his luggage from Dushanbe.
In the second case, which occurred in the Samarkand region, law enforcement officers also stopped a Gentra car driven by a 53-year-old man. During the inspection, 981 grams of heroin were found in the car’s trunk. Two more offenders, aged 39 and 46, were detained by law enforcement officers in the Namangan region.
During a search of the VAZ 2106 car, law enforcement officers found and seized 1.83 kg of hashish from them. Additionally, during operational-search activities, law enforcement officers found another 1.49 kg of hashish in the house of one of the men. Law enforcement officers found that the men smuggled drugs from Tajikistan for further sale.
Also, during the raid, law enforcement officers detained a Kyrgyz citizen who attempted to sell 3.94 kg of hashish to a “conditional” resident of Andijan for 28 thousand dollars. It was revealed that the man received the potent substance from a hiding place in the Ohangaron district of the Tashkent region, where couriers from Tajikistan also delivered the “goods”.
As a result, law enforcement officers initiated relevant criminal cases under Articles 246 (Smuggling) and 273 (Illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage, and other actions with narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances for the purpose of sale, as well as their sale) and arrested the detainees.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan had seized drugs imported from Afghanistan. The prohibited substances were to be sold in the Fergana region and Karakalpakstan.
