The State Security Service detained fraudsters who promised citizens jobs in South Korea and Slovakia

One of the detainees had previously been convicted of a similar crime.

Fraudsters who promised to send citizens to work in South Korea and Slovakia were detained in Uzbekistan, the State Security Service press service reports.

In Namangan, an unofficial employee of a private employment agency gained the trust of four residents of the Turakurgan district and, through his acquaintances, promised to send them to work in South Korea for $2,000. He was detained while receiving an advance payment of $1,000.

In another case, the head of a tourism firm operating in Namangan demanded 40 million soums from his fellow countryman for “employment” in Slovakia. At the same time, he managed to receive $600 and 2.8 million soums “for visa processing”. It turned out that the citizen had previously been convicted of fraud.

Currently, criminal cases have been initiated against the violators under Article 168, Part 1 (Fraud). An investigation is underway.
