The number of children affected by poisoning in the Tashkent region has reached nearly two thousand

The number of districts where poisoning cases were recorded has reached seven.

Mass poisoning in Tashkent’s kindergartens has affected two more districts, causing the total number of affected children to reach 1,400, Daryo reports.

According to the information, such an indicator was recorded by 10:00 on September 26. It is noted that currently, 413 children in Okkurgan district, 537 kindergarten children in Buka district, 430 children in Pskent district, 64 children in Kuyichirchik district, 98 children in Bekabad district, 285 children in Almalyk district, and 113 children in Nurafshon district have applied to hospitals with food poisoning complaints.

It should be noted that 109 children in four districts were previously under the supervision of the Ministry of Preschool Education. On September 25, the Minister of Preschool and School Education, Ezoza Karimova, and Deputy Minister Azizbek Turdiyev visited preschool institutions in the Quyichirchiq, Oqqurg’on, Pskent, and Buka districts to assess the situation. Together with territorial law enforcement agencies and responsible persons, conditions in kindergartens and dining halls were checked, and conversations were held with kindergarten managers and educators.

Earlier, it was reported that on September 24, children of state preschool institutions sought medical attention with food poisoning. The children complained of fever, nausea, and diarrhea. Specialists took samples of all food products supplied to preschool institutions. The poisoning may have occurred due to poor quality kefir with a fat content of 3.2%, which was produced in the Akkurgan district.

On September 25, the Investigative Department of the Regional Department of Internal Affairs initiated a criminal case under part 1 of Article 257-1 (Violation of sanitary legislation or rules for combating epidemics). Initial investigative actions are being carried out. The perpetrators face up to 5 years in prison. The Children’s Ombudsman will continue to monitor the situation.
