On October 28, information spread on social networks that the “Hospital” market in Tashkent with a green zone had been fenced off, causing concern among residents. The Mirobod district administration commented on the incident.
It turned out that the installation of fences and the work being carried out are related to the implementation of a large-scale project to improve and landscape the territory. According to the khokimiyat, the project’s goal is to give the market and adjacent territory a modern look, as well as to create a comfortable, clean, and safe pedestrian environment for residents and visitors.
At the same time, the department stated that existing trees will not be cut down. In addition, it is planned to plant new seedlings and expand green areas. The work will be completed within a month, and the market will continue to operate normally. The administration asks residents and visitors to be understanding and apologizes for any temporary inconvenience.
As a reminder, 145 trees were illegally cut down during the improvement of Babur Street in Tashkent, although they were planned to be transplanted. The capital’s administration reported that some of the trees were diseased, and an official investigation is underway regarding the responsible individuals’ negligence.
Later, the Ministry of Ecology conducted an inspection at the site of large-scale tree felling. The capital’s administration stated that tens of thousands of new plants will be planted in place of the destroyed ones. It was also emphasized that to prevent such incidents in the future, work will be carried out jointly with the ministry.
