Shavkat Mirziyoyev sent condolences to Afghanistan following the earthquake
The devastating natural phenomenon claimed the lives of more than 800 people.

Shavkat Mirziyoyev expressed his condolences to Afghanistan regarding the many casualties and injuries caused by the earthquake, reports the presidential press service.
A severe earthquake with a magnitude of 6 struck the provinces of Kunar and Nangarhar. The epicentre was at a depth of 8 km. Following the main shock, three aftershocks with magnitudes ranging from 4.5 to 5.2 were recorded. Earlier reports indicated that 622 people had died, and another 1,500 citizens were injured.
However, the Afghan government stated that the figures “are not final, as rescue teams are still being sent to remote areas”. Later, Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid reported that the death toll from the earthquake overnight in eastern Afghanistan had reached 812, with 2,817 injured.
