In Turkey, Uzbek citizens were detained for attempting to smuggle gold jewelry

The offenders hid the counterfeit goods in certain parts of the kitchen appliances.

Law enforcement officers in Turkey detained Uzbek citizens who attempted to smuggle gold into the country, the press service of the city’s security department reports.

According to the information, the incident occurred at the Nevshehir airport. During the baggage check, law enforcement officers noticed suspicious kitchen utensils in six citizens, five of whom turned out to be Uzbek citizens. During a search inside the equipment, law enforcement officers found parts containing 61 kg 121 g of gold.

It is noted that the market value of the products is estimated at approximately 350 million Turkish lira or about 8.3 million dollars. Law enforcement officers detained the suspects and brought them to the prosecutor’s office, and another citizen was transferred by law enforcement officers to migration officers for further deportation.

Earlier, it was reported that the illegal import of jewelry worth almost a billion soums was stopped in Tashkent. Smuggling was found in citizens who arrived from Dubai.
