In the Surkhandarya region, a woman with a child was detained in a barn
The man and his relatives forcibly kept the mother and baby in unsanitary conditions for several months, and a criminal case has been opened.

Information surfaced on social media about a woman and her child being oppressed in the Uzun district of Surkhandarya region. The regional Department of Internal Affairs confirmed this fact.
According to law enforcement, a resident of the district, Sh.A., collaborated with relatives and detained his co-wife, born in 1997, along with her five-month-old baby in the cattle shed. The woman and the infant were kept in unsanitary conditions and were subjected to violence.
A neighbourhood inspector who arrived at the scene opened the premises and found the injured. Currently, the mother and child are in the hospital: the woman is in the surgery department, and the baby is in the maternity ward. Their condition is under the close supervision of doctors and social protection agencies.
The investigation revealed that over several months, Sh.A. and his relatives had been pressuring the woman, exploiting her vulnerable mental state and speech impairment. A criminal case has been opened against the suspect and three other individuals under Article 1261 of the Criminal Code (“Illegal deprivation of liberty under aggravating circumstances”). All of them are in custody.
The investigation has been placed under special supervision by the Surkhandarya Regional Department of Internal Affairs, and forensic medical examinations have been ordered.
