In the Fergana region, over a billion subsidies of entrepreneurs were embezzled

Law enforcement officers are conducting an investigation.

In the Fergana region, law enforcement officers revealed the embezzlement of 1.4 billion soums in subsidies allocated to entrepreneurs in 2023-2024, according to the Anti-Corruption Agency’s press service.

Specialists conducted an investigation and found that of the total amount of 9.3 billion soums of subsidies allocated to entrepreneurs in the Fergana region in 2023-2024, about 1.4 billion soums were illegally embezzled. In particular, in the Uchkurgan district, 2 legal entities embezzled 309.4 million soums allocated for the supply of equipment for 37 home-based workers.

In Rishtan district, 1 legal entity failed to provide 42 home-based workers with equipment, embezzling 277.2 million soums, in Baghdad district, 2 legal entities also embezzled 275.0 million soums, leaving 54 home-based workers without equipment. Similar cases were also recorded by specialists in other districts:

  • Beshariq district — 1 legal entity did not provide 33 home-based workers with equipment worth 192.4 million soums;
  • Kokand — 1 legal entity did not provide equipment worth 160.5 million soums to 17 home-based workers;
  • Fergana district — 1 legal entity did not provide 14 home-based workers with equipment worth 106.3 million soums;
  • Fergana — 1 legal entity did not provide equipment to 15 home-based workers for 98.0 million soums;
  • Dangara district — 1 legal entity did not provide 7 home-based workers with equipment worth 51.0 million soums.

Furthermore, the inspection revealed that a total of 335.0 million soums in subsidies were allocated to the region illegally. In particular, 6 citizens illegally received double payments, violating the requirements of the law, for which they were able to receive 34.9 million soums.

In addition, specialists discovered that 47 citizens included in the “Iron Book”, “Women’s Book”, and “Youth Book” were also re-allocated subsidies totaling 300.1 million soums. It is noted that errors were made during the monitoring by employees of the Poverty Reduction and Employment Assistance Departments, as well as assistants to khokims. As a result, law enforcement officers initiated a criminal case on this fact. Currently, investigative actions are underway.

Previously, it was reported that subsidies for hot water and heating would be completely abolished. The chairman of the board of District heating said that such a system hinders the development of the industry.
