In Tashkent, the head of a synthetic cell manufacturing plant, where a major fire broke out, was sentenced

Four people died as a result of the fire.

A verdict was issued against the head of a synthetic cell manufacturing plant in Tashkent, where a major fire broke out, the Supreme Court’s press service reported.

According to the department, the bodies of three citizens were recovered from the fire, and another died in the hospital. The workshop owner was convicted under three criminal articles:

  • Clause “a” of Part 2 of Article 192-11 (Abuse by officials of a non-state commercial or other non-state organization of their powers, causing especially large damage);
  • paragraphs “a” and “b” of part 2 of Article 257 (Violation of labor protection rules resulting in human death and other grave consequences);
  • paragraphs “a” and “b” of part 2 of Article 259 (Violation of fire safety rules resulting in human death and other grave consequences).

The man was deprived of the right to hold leadership positions with financial responsibility for a period of 1 year and 1 month. He was also sentenced to 4 years of restricted freedom. The company head disagreed with the verdict and filed an appeal. The court is in the process of reviewing the application.

Recall that the incident occurred on May 1 in Tashkent. Then, after extinguishing the fire, during an inspection of the fire site, the bodies of two citizens were found. Five people were also taken to the hospital with injuries. The suspected cause of the fire was a technological disruption at the production facility.
