In the Tashkent region, a young man who left an insulting comment under the president’s photo on social media was convicted, according to the court’s decision.
The incident occurred in Ohangaron, an 18-year-old man posted an insulting comment under Shavkat Mirziyoyev’s photo on Instagram. When asked why he left such a comment and what was the purpose, the defendant replied that there was no purpose, and he wrote the comment without thinking.
A criminal case has been initiated against him under Article 158, Part 3 (public insult or slander against the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, as well as using the press or other mass media, telecommunications networks, or the Internet). He was sentenced to 2 years of restricted freedom.
As a reminder, Tiktoker Valery Dugay was sentenced to three years in a penal colony for insulting Uzbeks and the president. The blogger, nicknamed “Abdulloh”, admitted during interrogation that he spoke inappropriately about people from Central Asia for the sake of hype.
