In Syrdarya, two police officers were caught extorting money

Law enforcement officers demanded money from citizens to “cover up” the criminal case.

In the Syrdarya region, law enforcement officers detained two police officers for extorting money to close the case, the State Security Service press service reported.

The incident occurred in October. The Department of Internal Affairs of the Khavast District of the Syrdarya Region received an appeal regarding the theft of polyethylene film from the field plot of one of the horticultural companies.

Two senior operative officers of the district police department, holding the ranks of lieutenant colonel and major, forcibly transported four citizens suspected of theft to the department. Employees, threatening to imprison them, demanded 55 million soums from the detainees to “close up” the case. Later, the accused received 24 million soums under the pretext of compensation for the damage.

In addition, employees demanded an additional 11 million soums for not initiating criminal proceedings against them, not applying a preventive measure in the form of detention, as well as for reclassifying the case as an administrative offense. Law enforcement officers were detained while receiving this money.

A criminal case has been initiated against them under clauses “c” and “d” of part 2 of Article 210 (Extortion by a group of officials with prior agreement). They were arrested. An investigation has begun.

Recall that in Tashkent, a police officer organized a narcotics laboratory in his office. Law enforcement officers searched the prevention inspector’s house, where they also found drugs buried in the ground.
