In Surkhandarya, officers from the State Security Service apprehended Islamic radicals
The perpetrators learnt to make homemade explosives and discussed travelling to Syria to become “martyrs”.

In Surkhandarya region, SSS officers detained supporters of the terrorist organisation “Tavhid va jihod katibasi”, the department’s press service reports.
Among those detained were citizens who had previously been convicted of the same crime. In 2021, they were released on parole. The group was formed in 2024. Under the guise of recreation in the foothill regions of the region, participants gathered for religious gatherings.
They listened to the sermons of the ideologues of terrorist organisations. The perpetrators also discussed travelling to Syria to participate in the fighting and carrying out suicide bombings to become “martyrs”.
In addition, they contacted the recruiters of the “Tavhid va jihod katibasi” and received instructions from them on the production of homemade explosives and poisonous substances. Four members of the criminal group managed to go to Syria and join the militants. Criminal cases have been initiated against them, and they are wanted.
The principles of humanism and forgiveness were applied to some citizens. At the same time, 20 active members of the group were sentenced to 6 to 13 years in prison for the following articles:
- 155 (Терроризм);
- 155-2 (Training, travel or movement for the purpose of carrying out terrorist activities);
- 155-3 (Financing of terrorism);
- 159 (Encroachment on the constitutional order);
- 244-1 (Production, storage, distribution, or demonstration of materials containing a threat to public safety and public order);
- 244-2 (Создание, руководство, участие в религиозных экстремистских, сепаратистских, фундаменталистских или иных запрещенных организациях).
As a reminder, Lithuania intends to stop accepting migrants from Uzbekistan. According to the country’s Prime Minister, the reasons are the cultural differences of people from Central Asia, their tendency towards Islamist radicalism, and the potential risk of terrorism.
