In Surkhandarya region, law enforcement officers caught a hokim’s assistant, as well as an engineer and head of the agricultural department for a bribe of 29 million soums, the State Security Service press service reported.
According to the information, the assistant to the khokim of the mahalla citizens’ assembly of Sariosiyo district, taking advantage of his position, gained the trust of a 29-year-old citizen and demanded 29 million soums for the registration of 2.5 hectares of irrigated land for a 30-year lease.
Law enforcement officers detained a man with material evidence. However, during the pre-trial investigation, it was revealed that the man was supposed to hand over the received money to the department engineer at the local research and design institute and the head of the Sariosiyo district agricultural department.
Law enforcement officers conducted a special operation, during which a man with counterfeit money appeared at a meeting with accomplices, where the men were also detained while transferring the money. Law enforcement officers have initiated criminal proceedings against all three offenders under Articles 168 (Fraud) and 211 (Bribery). Currently, investigative actions are underway.
Earlier, it was reported that the head of the personnel department of the arbitration court in Surkhandarya was caught taking a bribe. The man asked for a thousand dollars to get his acquaintance a job through his connections.
