On January 14, reports of the rape of a schoolgirl at School No. 64 in the Denovsky District of the Surkhandarya Region spread on social media. The regional Department of Youth Affairs commented on the incident.
It was discovered that the incident involving underage students in the 11th and 9th grades occurred several months ago outside of school. However, the school administration promptly investigated the incident, discussed it with the parents, and notified the police. An investigation is currently underway.
During the investigation, the priority is to protect the rights, honor, and dignity of minors, as well as their mental health. Therefore, it is inappropriate to draw unilateral conclusions or disseminate unconfirmed information before the preliminary investigation is completed, the statement reads.
The school administration is reportedly taking the necessary measures in conjunction with the relevant authorities. Following the investigation, additional information will be provided in accordance with the established legal procedure.
