In Surkhandarya, a group of men beat two citizens

The attackers beat the victims with their hands, used bricks and knives, and also involved a minor in the crime.

On November 19th, information circulated on social media alleging that there were two children in Surkhandarya region. The regional Department of Internal Affairs clarified the incident.

It turned out that the information does not correspond to reality. The incident was related not to the children of the mentioned couple, but to the fact that two citizens were deliberately injured by a criminal group. According to the department, on July 5, a citizen, along with five accomplices, one of whom was a minor, beat two citizens in a crowd.

The attackers attacked with their hands and feet, and also used knives and bricks. According to the forensic medical examination report, the first victim sustained moderate bodily injuries, while the second sustained minor injuries. Criminal cases have been initiated against the suspects in connection with this fact:

  • under paragraphs “i, m” of part 2 of Article 105 (intentional infliction of moderate bodily harm by a group of persons or a member of an organized group, or in its interests, with the use of weapons or objects that can be used as a cold weapon), under the article, the guilty party is punishable by up to 5 years of imprisonment;
  • subparagraphs “b, c” of part 2 of Article 109 (Deliberate infliction of light bodily harm by a group of persons or a member of an organized group or in its interests with the use of weapons or objects that can be used as a cold weapon), for which the guilty party is punishable by up to 2 years of imprisonment;
  • part 2 of Article 127 (Involving a minor in antisocial behavior) of the Criminal Code, the perpetrators face up to 5 years of imprisonment.

Five citizens were detained, and a personal guarantor was appointed for the minor. The investigation has been completed and transferred to the prosecutor’s office and the court.

Reports that police officers were exerting pressure were investigated by the prosecutor’s office and were not confirmed. Currently, an investigation is underway against individuals who spread false information to discredit law enforcement officers, — the statement said.

As a reminder, in the Tashkent region, a man came to a store with a gun and beat a vendor. It turned out that the victim was the attacker’s cohabiting partner.
