In the Samarkand region, a man beat his wife for “reading a book and not making tea for his parents”: previously, he had knocked out her teeth three times, NeMolchi reports.
According to the case materials, the accused Zohid Halimov regularly used violence against his spouse, and on December 21, 2025, he quarreled with her, insulted her with obscene language, and deliberately beat her, causing bodily harm that did not lead to a short-term deterioration in her health, according to the forensic medical examination report dated December 23, 2025.
Halimov admitted his guilt in court and stated that on December 21, 2025, at 7:00 PM, when he returned from work, he saw his wife, instead of making tea for his parents, reading a book. He got angry and hit her in the face. The man asked the court to lighten his sentence.
The victim, in turn, testified that she had been married to Halimov for 12 years and during this period her husband had constantly beaten her, knocked out her teeth three times, which is why she now wears a prosthetic. In addition, she said that their children are experiencing stress due to constant conflicts in the family.
She also noted that her husband beat and strangled her for no reason, and on December 21, 2025, at 19:00, while she was sitting at home, Halimov came from work and beat her because she hadn’t made tea for her parents. The woman barely escaped from him and has been living in her father’s house ever since.
The victim asked the court to take legal action against her husband. The investigative body established that Zohid Halimov’s actions do not have the elements of part 1 of Article 59-2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Family (Domestic) Violence), and the case of intentional infliction of bodily harm and domestic violence committed by him falls under part 2 of Article 59-2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses of the Republic of Uzbekistan (Beating, infliction of intentional minor bodily harm, not causing a short-term health disorder or minor permanent loss of working capacity, to a spouse, former spouse, a person living together on the basis of a single household, or a child, as well as a person having a common child).
The court sentenced him to 12 days of administrative arrest with a deduction of 15% of the BCA for each day. Halimov was not previously convicted – his wife had not filed a complaint with law enforcement agencies for 12 years on the facts of teething and systematic beatings.
According to Article 126-1 (Family (domestic) violence) of the Criminal Code, if a man commits family violence repeatedly after applying administrative penalties within a year, he will be fined from 20 to 30 BCV, compulsory community service from 160 to 300 hours, or correctional labor for up to 2 years.
If the violence is repeatedly committed by a person previously convicted under this criminal article in the presence of children, prison sentences may range from 7 to 12 years. The victim noted that the violence in the family occurred in front of the children. But all this time, the man remained unpunished.
Recall that in Tashkent, a former serviceman beat his wife and kept her in the basement without water and food. The man got angry at his wife’s request to go to his brother’s wedding.
