A Lacetti driver who hit a group of people at a pedestrian crossing in Samarkand has been sentenced, according to the State Traffic Safety Inspectorate press service.
A man hit 8 people at high speed. He was found guilty under Article 266, Part 3 of the Criminal Code (Violation of traffic safety rules or operation of vehicles).
My two-year-old daughter was thrown dozens of meters. My pregnant sister and her baby were with me. The sister could not be saved. Her daughter was in a critical condition. My daughter also underwent surgery. There was a threat of disability, she still limps, — one of the victims said.
The accused was sentenced to 7 years in prison. He was also stripped of his driving license for 3 years.
When I arrived, my wife was already dead. The most difficult thing was to return home and hear from the child “where is mother and when will she come? I didn’t know how to explain it, — the husband of one of the deceased said.
As a reminder, the accident occurred on April 11th on Rudaki Street in Samarkand. The footage shows a group of 8 people, including adults and children, crossing a pedestrian crossing when a Lacetti driver crashed into them at high speed. From the impact, people were thrown several meters ahead. According to the regional traffic police, the Lacetti was driven by a 28-year-old driver.
