In Navoi, a drunk restaurant visitor beat a man — video

The attacker was revealed to be a friend of Paralympic champion Elbek Sultonov, who was nearby but did not take part in the conflict.

On 1 September, information circulated on social media claiming that an Olympic champion had assaulted a man. The Navoi Regional Department of Internal Affairs responded to the incident and denied the rumours.

It was revealed that the incident took place around 02:00 on 22 August in Navoi’s “Ziyokor” mahalla. A security guard approached to remind the three members of the group to settle the bill. Consequently, a conflict erupted between the security guard and one of the men, during which the intoxicated visitor struck the officer.

It is reported that the car with the inscription “presidential gift”, in which the attacker arrived, belongs to Paralympic champion Elbek Sultanov. At the time of the incident, the athlete was nearby but did not interfere in the conflict. After attacking the security guard, he tried to calm his friend down. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 277 (Hooliganism).

The attacker was detained and taken into custody. He faces a sentence of up to three years in prison. The victim’s health has not been disclosed. An investigation has been initiated.

Recall that in the Jizzakh region, a father brutally assaulted his children. The Children’s Ombudsman responded to the situation and promised to ensure the safety of the victims. Later, these children were found and helped. Specialists have placed the minors in a family orphanage and are currently working to repatriate the mother who works abroad.
