In Namangan, a prevention inspector has been dismissed following reports of torture

The city prosecutor's office has initiated a criminal case, and an investigation is ongoing.

Information about torture by a prevention inspector in Namangan has circulated on social media. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ombudsman remarked on the situation and confirmed the incident.

According to law enforcement, on 14 August, a 34-year-old resident of Namangan was brought to the Department of Internal Affairs due to a family dispute. He underwent a preventive examination and was then sent home. However, two days later, he went to hospital owing to worsening health.

As the Ombudsman’s representative stated, the prevention inspector was dismissed, and the city prosecutor’s office initiated a criminal case on this matter.

According to the provided information, Major D. B., the prevention inspector of the Public Security Service of the Chust District Department of Internal Affairs, was dismissed from his post due to negligence and disrespect for his official duties, unjustified absence from his designated area, and a serious breach of the Code of Professional and Service Ethics of Internal Affairs Officers, — the report stated.

A criminal case has been opened under Article 104, Part 1 of the Criminal Code (intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm). An investigation is ongoing.
