In Andijan, law enforcement officers stopped an attempt to smuggle jewelry worth a large sum, the Customs Committee’s press service reported.
Law enforcement officers conducted an operational event against a citizen who was under preliminary observation at the time of receiving the package from another person. After opening the package, the guards found three packages containing 175 gold items with a total weight of 1 kg 138 g.
The suspect did not have any customs documents, as well as documents confirming the authenticity and quality of the products. It is noted that the preliminary value of the seized items is 2 billion soums. Currently, law enforcement officers are conducting an investigation into the incident.
Earlier, it was reported that three women were detained in Andijan for attempting to smuggle gold jewelry into the country. The offenders hid more than 200 g of gold in private places.
