In the Andijan region, law enforcement officers detained a group of young people who were distributing prohibited materials and planning to join a terrorist group operating in Syria, the press service of the regional DIA reported.
According to the information, the incident occurred in the Shahrixon district. According to law enforcement, 9 boys aged 19 were previously classmates. The young men created a group on social networks and distributed prohibited extremist materials, recruiting followers and planning to leave the country in the future.
Law enforcement officers initiated criminal proceedings on this fact under Articles 244-1 (Preparation, storage, distribution, or demonstration of materials that threaten public safety and order) and 244-2 (Creation, leadership, participation in prohibited organizations). Offenders face up to 20 years in prison. Investigative actions are underway.
Earlier, it was reported that three young girls were detained in Uzbekistan for promoting terrorism. The girls shared prohibited content on prohibited networks and recruited new members.
