Illegal drug trafficking has been stopped in Syrdarya and Namangan regions

In one case, the spouses organized a “family business” and prepared prohibited substances right in the living room.

Drug trafficking has been stopped in Sirdaryo and Namangan regions, the State Security Service press service reported.

A married couple from Gulistan conspired with a native of the Fergana region and prepared synthetic drugs in a residential building. Prohibited substances were distributed using bookmarks. Specialists seized 4 kg 373 grams of mephedrone, electronic scales, and other equipment from the narcotics laboratory. The raw materials were sent from abroad by OCG members engaged in drug production in the CIS.

A criminal case has been initiated under part 5 of Article 273 (Illegal manufacture, acquisition, storage, and other actions with narcotic drugs, their analogues, or psychotropic substances for the purpose of sale, as well as their sale). An investigation has begun.

Further, a resident of the Uchkurgan district of Namangan region attempted to illegally cross the border with Kyrgyzstan. During the inspection, 9 kg 702 g of hashish were found in his bags. A criminal case has been initiated under Article 223, Part 1 (Illegal departure abroad or illegal entry into Uzbekistan) and Article 246, Part 2 (Smuggling). The suspect was detained.

In another case, a resident of Namangan was detained. He attempted to obtain illegal drugs and counterfeit products worth 3.2 billion soums imported from Kyrgyzstan. 24,122 packages of “Regapen”, 4,880 packages of “Tropikamid”, and 61,287 counterfeit medicines of 45 names were seized.

Additionally, as a result of inspections, it was revealed that five citizens from Namangan and Kosonsoy district were engaged in selling potent and counterfeit medicines in Tashkent and Fergana Valley regions. A criminal case has also been initiated against these individuals, and an investigation is underway.

As a reminder, the penalties for drug-related crimes will be strengthened in Uzbekistan. The authorities will add an article on the use of prohibited substances in a public place.
