At the Tashkent airport, a smuggler pretended to be a pilgrim to import medicines
The man decided that law enforcement officers are not checking the citizens who arrived from Umrah.

Employees of the Tashkent-AERO specialized customs complex at the Tashkent airport border post prevented another attempt to smuggle a large batch of medicines into the country.
One of the passengers who arrived from Delhi noticed that Umrah pilgrims were returning to the airport at the same time. He decided that passengers returning from pilgrimage are not checked at the customs. The passenger changed his clothes in the airport toilet and tried to present himself as one of them.
However, during the inspection of his luggage in the prescribed manner, officers found almost 1,798 packages of various medicines with a total value of about 205 million soums. Currently, customs inspections are ongoing regarding the incident.
As a reminder, over a hundred citizens in Uzbekistan have died due to dangerous medications. The deputies adopted a draft law that will strengthen the responsibility for illicit drug trafficking.
