A 38-year-old man was detained in Namangan region on charges of raping a seven-year-old girl, Kun reports.

The incident occurred on October 14 in the Yangiqo’rg’on district. A man came to his uncle’s wedding, where the host’s seven-year-old granddaughter was also present. Taking advantage of her trust and the fact that she is a minor, the man deceived the child and committed sexual acts against the child.

After the crime, the criminal fled, but was apprehended two days later. On October 16, by the decision of the Yangikurgan District Court, the man was detained. The injured girl is currently in intensive care.

It is reported that the detainee had previously been prosecuted twice for similar crimes. In 2014, he was sentenced to 10 years in prison under Articles 112 (Threat of murder or use of violence), 119 (Forced satisfaction of sexual needs in an unnatural form), and 277 (Hooliganism) of the Criminal Code.

In 2020, the man was brought to trial again — this time under Article 118 (Rape) — and was sentenced to 10 years and 2 months in prison. At the same time, it is unknown why the man was released in 2025.
