A girl who became a victim of human trafficking was returned to Uzbekistan from Pakistan

The diplomats provided the citizen with all the necessary documents and purchased air tickets for her to Tashkent.

Diplomats of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan helped a compatriot who became a victim of human trafficking to return home, Dunyo reports.

An Uzbek citizen contacted the Embassy in Islamabad and reported that she had become a victim of human trafficking. She asked for help in returning to her homeland. The girl was lured to the Pakistani city of Lahore in 2018 under the pretext of working in a women’s salon. There, unknown individuals sold her to a public house.

The Embassy representatives issued the victim all the necessary documents, including a certificate for returning to her homeland. As a result of negotiations with the ministries and agencies of Pakistan, the diplomats managed not to hold the woman accountable for violating the rules of stay in the country. For the girl, deportation was achieved without fines or fees.

With the assistance of the Embassy and the Migration Agency, a return plane ticket was purchased for the compatriot, and she was repatriated to her homeland on an Uzbekistan Airways flight from Islamabad to Tashkent. Ensuring the protection of the rights of compatriots abroad and providing them with comprehensive assistance is one of the priorities of Uzbekistan’s foreign policy,” the statement said.

Recall that a woman suspected of human trafficking was returned to Uzbekistan from Turkey. The offender was a member of a sex organization and recruited compatriots under the pretext of high-paying work abroad to engage in prostitution.
