Uzbekistan has denied reports about the re-export of gold from Russia
The head of the Central Bank said that the republic has its own reserves.

The head of the Central Bank of Uzbekistan, Timur Ishmetov, commented on information from the foreign press about alleged supplies of gold from Russia to the republic, “Gazeta.uz” reports.
According to the regulator chairman, the emerging information is completely unreliable, and the Central Bank has not purchased gold from other countries and is not planning to do so, as the country has sufficient reserves.
Ishmetov noted that several months ago, The Economist magazine published a material with similar claims. Following an official statement from the Central Bank, the editorial office acknowledged the error.
We officially contacted them, asked where they got this information from, and pointed out its inaccuracy. In the next episode, they corrected the error, — said Ishmetov.
The head of the Central Bank said that this situation surprised the Central Bank.
Therefore, I repeat — this is absolutely untrue, utterly meaningless information. Most importantly, we have neither demand nor need for this, — the head of the Central Bank stressed.
Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan had sold gold worth almost ten billion dollars. Dragmetal accounts for more than a third of all exports.
