The PDPU proposed transferring mandatory rights for mopeds and scooters
The party believes that the innovation will deprive thousands of young people of the opportunity to work.

The People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan opposed the introduction of mandatory driver’s licenses for operating mopeds and scooters from October 1.
According to the information, such rules could leave hundreds of thousands of self-employed people without earnings, and they propose to postpone their implementation. According to the NDPU, today almost 130 thousand young people work as couriers using bicycles, mopeds, and scooters. For many, this is the only source of income and a way to support their family.
The party notes that during the period when the state is actively combating poverty and creating new jobs, the introduction of additional requirements for self-employed individuals can lead to serious social consequences. Despite the fact that the deadlines for obtaining documents have already been extended, there are too many interested parties, and the existing timeframes may not be enough.
According to the PDP, if thousands of young people are left without the opportunity to work, this will be a blow not only to them, but also to the country’s economy as a whole. Instead, it is necessary to look for more gentle and convenient solutions for people.
Alternatively, the party proposed to postpone the introduction of mandatory driver’s licenses and license plates to the next year, as well as to revise the terms and amounts of payments for their issuance.
The PDPU stated that the issue is of high socio-economic importance and intends to send an official deputy’s inquiry to find an optimal solution.
Earlier, Uzbeks were reminded of the need to have documents when driving mopeds and scooters, the change will come into effect from October 1. Previously, the implementation of the measure was also postponed.
