In Uzbekistan, it is planned to introduce a ban on the sale of weapons to persons with criminal records related to domestic violence, the press service of the Legislative Chamber reports.

According to the information, the deputies reviewed the draft law aimed at creating a safe environment and early prevention of offenses. In particular, it is planned to establish a norm according to which persons who have committed crimes related to domestic violence will be prohibited from acquiring weapons.

Furthermore, the document establishes a procedure under which internal affairs officers will temporarily seize weapons from individuals who have committed violence against children. In addition, the draft law provides for the introduction of compulsory treatment of persons suffering from narcological diseases.

Thus, a citizen who has once been brought to administrative responsibility and suffers from a narcological disease may be sent for treatment by court decision. It was noted that to implement the project, the Ministry of Health plans to establish inter-district specialized medical commissions to conduct narcological examinations in remote areas.

It is planned that these norms will contribute to the prevention of offenses, crime prevention, stabilization of the criminogenic situation in mahallas, and more effective protection of the life and health of citizens. The deputies adopted the draft law, and before it comes into force, the document must be approved by the Senate and signed by the president.

Earlier, it was reported that Uzbekistan wants to strengthen punishment for sexual violence and pornography with the image of children. The authorities also plan to regulate the procedure for interrogating minors to reduce their psychological burden.
