The President of Kyrgyzstan intends to introduce the death penalty for crimes against children and women

Sadyr Japarov initiated the bill following an incident involving a 17-year-old girl who was raped and killed by a previously convicted man.

Kyrgyzstan’s President Sadyr Japarov initiated a bill to introduce the death penalty for especially grave crimes against women and children, reports 24.kg.

The proposal includes the introduction of a higher penalty for rape of minors and rape with the murder of women. The Head of State instructed to prepare appropriate amendments to the legislation.

The initiative came after the rape and murder of a 17-year-old girl. A resident of Karakol went missing on September 27. Her body was found near the village of Zhel-Aryk. The girl was raped and strangled. The suspect is a previously convicted man, born in 1984, who was detained in Bishkek.
